Travis Holp: The Warrior Unicorn Medium

It’s hard to miss a man named Warrior Unicorn.

But the magic of Travis Holp isn’t in the glitter. It’s in the grit. His gift didn’t arrive in a flash of light-it unfolded slowly, piece by piece, through flickers of knowing, whispers from another frequency, and the steady hand of a grandmother who believed him. As a psychic medium, Holp moves between worlds, carrying messages from departed loved ones with tenderness, humor, and a deep sense of responsibility. Now, in the thick of his Dead Serious tour and on the eve of his book release, he opens up about intuition, stubbornness, testicle keychains, and the sacred hilarity of spirit.

When did you first realize you had psychic or mediumship abilities?

“When I was younger, I could sense and feel things. I’d talk to my granny-my dad’s mom-about them,” Travis recalls. “Growing up, I thought maybe it was imagination or just being a kid. But as I got older and I started studying mysticism and spirituality, I started piecing together what all of it meant for me.”

He credits his grandmother as one of his earliest validators: “My granny would talk to spirits, and she validated a lot of things for me when I was younger. Looking back, I’ve kind of always been doing this-I just didn’t know that’s what it was.”

Was it a family gift?

“She’s the only one I know of,” he says, “but people always described her as magical, as having a special connection.”

What was it like to begin working with those energies intentionally?

“When I first started, I read tarot for people. I did more psychic readings at first-not spirit communication right away. That took a few months. Once it started happening, I started studying and absorbing as much as I could. Eventually, my practice just evolved into mostly spirit communication.”

What began as flashes and fragments soon became something fuller.

“At first it would be little glimpses here and there about someone’s departed loved ones. Then it evolved into being able to tell the story of that person-to capture their essence and share more of who they were. And I could do it for longer stretches of time.”

That’s an emotional space to live in. How do you protect yourself?

“I think today’s a good example,” he says, pausing for a breath. Holp received some unhappy news before our interview. He still showed up.

“Most of the time, I can put my own stuff aside and just be that medium, that vessel. But there are days-like today-where it’s just too noisy inside. I think a lot of it is about knowing how to take care of myself. And knowing when to say, ‘Not today.’”

Do you receive messages for yourself?

“Oh, I absolutely do. Do I listen to them? That’s a whole other story.” He laughs.

“I’m just as stubborn as anyone else. I get little hits about things to let go of or shift away from and I’m like, ‘Are you sure?’ But that’s the beautiful thing-it’s not just for others. It’s for my own healing and growth too. Still, if I hear it from someone else, I’m more likely to believe it.”

What’s one of the most unforgettable messages you’ve delivered?

“That it’s never goodbye. It’s just a constant stream of hellos from our departed loved ones. When they transition into non-physical, they’re not gone. They’re just on another frequency.”

He shares a story that gave him goosebumps in real time and it may give you some too.

“I was reading for someone whose parents had both passed. She said, ‘Travis, all I want is to hear my parents say hello one more time.’

“And then, from my bedroom across the hall, my Alexa just goes, ‘Hello.’

“We both stopped. She asked, ‘What was that?’ I told her it was my Alexa-and then it said ‘Hello’ again. She goes, ‘That’s crazy. Since I booked this session with you, my Alexa has been doing that two or three times a day.’

“That moment clicked for me. It’s never goodbye. It’s just… hello. Again and again.”

You’re in the middle of your Dead Serious tour. What can people expect?

“We started in April, and we’ve got about 15 cities left. My agent keeps adding more, it’s the tour that never ends! But I’m grateful.”

The show itself is pure mediumship.

“It’s 90 minutes of messages from spirit. I have no idea who’s going to get a reading, or who’s going to come through. It’s completely random. But the throughline is always that same reassurance: they’re still with us. They’re still checking in.”

Any totally off-script moments that caught you off guard?

He grins mischievously.

“Oh yeah. I mean, you know, they have me say things-the loved ones that have departed. And there’ll be moments where I’m like, ‘Oh my God, can I say that to somebody?’

There was a gal in Oklahoma and her aunt had departed. And her aunt keeps showing me testicles, and I kept hearing, ‘Grab life by the balls.’. I’m thinking, I don’t know if I can say that. So I say, ‘Hon, your grandma or your aunt keeps telling me to tell you to grab life by the balls.’ And she whips out a key chain of testicles and says ‘One of the last things my aunt said to me was to grab life by the balls, and she got me this testicle key chain as this reminder.’

I think that’s just a beautiful, you know. Funny and kind of inappropriate, but also a really beautiful reminder that our loved ones are there and with their personality intact.”

He adds. “I think that’s the thing that makes us the truest essence of us, right? Our personality, our humor. I think that’s the truest core of who we are.”

On your tour as you travel from city to city, what spiritual energies do you notice? Does the energy feel different from place to place?

“Yes it does. That’s a good question. I love astrocartography. Are you familiar with that?”

I answered yes, but for those of you who aren’t, astrocartography is the practice of mapping how planetary energies from your birth chart interact with different geographical locations around the world, helping identify places where you might experience enhanced opportunities, relationships, or personal growth.

“The southwest corner is great for me. I’ve got a Venus line that goes from L.A. through Phoenix to Vegas. I always have such a good time there.

But my hometown of Ohio is where my Saturn line is. So there’s a lot of personal lessons there for me. So every time I go to Ohio, I’m asking what are we going to learn now?

One of my favorite places that I’ve been? I love the East Coast.

I think the energy there is really great. Ohio… you know, it is what it is.

But the comedy clubs, those you can feel. Because some of these clubs are in really old buildings, and there’s so much history in those places. I feel it, but I don’t connect into that type of energy. I’m just like, ‘Not today. Thank you so much, goodbye.’”

Have any of those energies tried to slide in?

He laughs. “Oh yeah, absolutely. But you know, it’s like a different frequency for me, and that’s just not a frequency that I tune to.”

Tell us about your upcoming book.

“It’s called Are You There? Spirit. It’s Me, Travis: Life Lessons from the Other Side.”

He holds up the book, beaming.

“This is actually the galley copy that I have, and I’m really excited about it. We got our first preliminary review yesterday, which was super fun—and it was very positive.

The book has anecdotal pieces from readings and mediumship work, but a lot of it is about how I relate to the readings, my own journey, and my growth as a medium. It also features information that’s been given in readings that applies to so many different people. And it’s got a lot of humor, a lot of heart.

At the core of who we all are, we’re all here to learn and to grow, so it’s really important for me to share my own growth and journey in the book. I’m really excited for people to read it and see how they interpret it for themselves. I can’t wait for people to read it—I’m so excited!”

That’s exciting. And when is it coming out?

“It comes out November 4.”

I noticed when I was on your website that your company is called Warrior Unicorn. I’m sure there’s a story there, and I want to hear it.

Travis laughs. “It was a nickname, actually. This guy I dated briefly in 2016 gave me a unicorn shirt. I asked him why, and he said, ‘You’re just kind of like a warrior unicorn.’

After that, people started giving me unicorn gifts. Like, constantly. So I embraced it.In 2020, I had this sudden knowing that I needed to start an LLC. I didn’t know what for. I just knew. So I created Warrior Unicorn LLC. A few months later, I started doing readings. It all aligned.”

I love that you trusted the hit.

“Yeah, that’s kind of the magic. You get the hit, you don’t know why-but you say yes anyway. And later it makes sense.”

What’s your bigger mission? Beyond the readings?

“To help as many people as I can. That’s always been the core of it for me. My last name, Holp, means ‘to have helped.’ I want to help people find the light within themselves.Readings are beautiful. But the bigger picture is that everyone can connect with their own loved ones. Everyone can find their own healing. This is just one way to do that.”

If your spirit guides had a theme song, what would it be?

He pauses. “Like a theme song for them or a theme song for me and my life?”

Both.

“For them? My gosh, it’d probably be something like, ‘This guy never listens to us.'”

He laughs, then considers.”For me and my life… You know, there’s that song which also inspired part of the name Warrior Unicorn – The Warrior by Scandal. I think for me and my life and just my journey, that song encompasses so much. That lyric – ‘Shooting through the walls of heartache, bang bang, I am the warrior’ – I think just that spirit that I have, that determination to keep loving, to keep experiencing no matter what happens, I think that’s what drives me.”

Some people deliver messages. Travis Holp delivers presence. Not promises. Not predictions. But that electric reminder that love outlives the body, that humor transcends the veil, and that every hello matters.

The Warrior Unicorn isn’t here to convince you.

He’s here to say hello.
